Venners in Hamilton Mill
If you are considering cosmetic dentistry to improve the appearance of your smile, knowing which treatment will work best for you can be tricky.
At Kinsey Smiles, Dr. Brian Kinsey helps patients improve their health and appearance every day. Scheduling a consultation with him will answer many of your questions.
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are one of the most common and versatile ways to correct cosmetic issues with your teeth. Made of highly esthetic porcelain, veneers have a natural appearance and translucency. Veneers are also durable and resilient, much like your natural tooth enamel.
Veneers are often the preferred choice for patients with certain cosmetic concerns:
- Chipped, worn, or damaged teeth
- Deep stains
- Uneven spacing or gaps between teeth
- Teeth that do not look uniform
Dr. Kinsey takes great pride in designing veneers that feel comfortable and function properly, all while creating your dream smile.
How Veneers Work
Whether you opt for one veneer or a whole new smile, it’s important to remember that veneers are a lifetime commitment. When you care for them properly, they can provide many years of reliable function with minimal maintenance.
In order to fit veneers on your teeth and have them look natural, Dr. Kinsey will polish your existing tooth structure to make space for your veneers and to help ensure a secure bond.
He will then take an impression of your teeth and give our trusted dental lab precise instructions on your veneers' size, shape, color, and length for the best results. While our dental lab creates your custom veneers, Dr. Kinsey will place temporaries on your teeth to protect them.
When your final veneers arrive in our office, Dr. Kinsey will bond them permanently to your teeth and make any tiny adjustments necessary for a good fit.
Caring for Your Veneers
Much like your natural teeth, porcelain veneers require dedicated home care to prevent decay between the veneer and your tooth:
- Brushing twice daily
- Flossing daily
- A healthy diet
Staying on time with your regular dental exams and cleanings will also improve the longevity of your new smile. If any condition develops, Dr. Kinsey can often identify it at your regular exam.
If you have a teeth grinding habit, it is wise to wear a custom nightguard to protect your veneers from chipping or becoming dislodged during sleep. We offer comfortable, discreet nightguards that protect your teeth and your dentistry.
