Dental implants are repeatedly labeled the “gold standard” of restorative dentistry. When placed properly by a skilled dentist near you, such as Dr. Brian Kinsey, you’re being set up for success. Implants do not rust, won’t slip out of position or move in the bone, and won’t irritate your oral tissues and bone matter since they are crafted of high-quality, biocompatible titanium.

This procedure is a great option for patients of all ages who are missing one, two, or multiple teeth. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Kinsey here at our local dental practice to learn more. He can tell you if getting dental implants in Dacula is right for you.

How Implants Help Repair Your Smile

Missing teeth can be a large consequence in the short and long term. When there are spaces in your smile, your other teeth can shift to fill in the gap, altering your bite pattern, which, in turn, exerts unnecessary force on your teeth and jaw. Additionally, tooth loss contributes to bone deterioration since the root isn’t present to stimulate growth.
At Kinsey Smiles, Dr. Kinsey can address these issues and more. The body or screw of the implant is placed into your jaw where your tooth used to be. Over time, the screw will fuse to the bone to create an extremely stable foundation. A connecting piece is attached to the screw so that a customized, tooth-colored restoration can be designed specifically for you to recreate that beautiful smile.

Recipients of dental implants can experience many benefits, including:

  • Improved chewing ability
  • You can speak clearer
  • Stops bone deterioration and facial sagging
  • Helps boost your confidence
  • Easy to maintain
  • It can be treated like your natural teeth

Worry-Free Dental Implants

Our patients frequently report minimal discomfort during implantation procedures. Since the bone lacks many nerve endings, Dr. Kinsey can expertly administer medication to ensure complete numbness and comfort before the treatment commences. With computer-guided surgery, he can meticulously plan and place your implants, helping you take one step closer to a beautiful smile.
Several months of healing are needed for the implant and bone to fully fuse. A prosthetic is fabricated at a dental laboratory and delivered back to the team at Kinsey Smiles. We offer an array of restoration including crowns, bridges, fixed dentures, or All-On-X; feel free to discuss these choices with Dr. Kinsey.
If you experience anxiety or fear regarding the procedure, our team offers sedation dentistry. This treatment can also help those patients who have high oral sensitivity or have an overactive gag reflex. At Kinsey Smiles, our team does all we can to ensure you have a pleasant, positive experience. Let us know if you require anything else!

Single Dental Implants

If you have lost a single tooth due to an accident or periodontal disease, the tooth can be replaced using a dental implant instead of a dental bridge. Your new tooth will look and function just like your other natural teeth.

Traditional Bridge versus a Single Implant:

Traditional bridges are the most common type of dental bridge. They consist of one or more pontics (false teeth) and are held in place by dental crowns. These dental crowns are cemented onto the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth or teeth, known as the abutment teeth. The advantages of traditional bridges are that they are well-established and widely used; in contrast, the removal of some tooth enamel from the surrounding teeth is necessary to place the bridge. It can also be difficult to keep clean and doesn’t prevent bone loss.

Single dental implants have become increasingly popular as a method for replacing missing teeth, and they offer several advantages over dental bridges. First, they look natural, help preserve the bone, and are easier to clean and maintain. Your dentist in Dacula does not have to cut down any adjacent teeth in order to place the structure. On the other hand, single implants require a brief surgical procedure and an upfront financial commitment that may not be covered by insurance.

Implant-Supported Dentures

An implant-supported denture is an oral appliance that replaces several teeth at once. It’s similar to a traditional denture. But instead of resting on top of your gums, an implant-supported denture attaches directly to your jawbone using dental implants. The structure offers improved stability for chewing, eating, and speaking.
Who Needs Implant-Supported Dentures?

Dr. Kinsey, with his 25 years of experience and advanced training in implant dentistry, may recommend implant-supported dentures if you’re missing most or all of your teeth. People who are missing multiple teeth in sporadic areas can also benefit from implant-supported partial dentures.

To qualify for implant-supported dentures, you must have enough bone in your jaw to accommodate the implant screw. In many cases, bone grafts can help add volume and density to areas where you’ve lost material. Contact us at Kinsey Smiles at either of our offices today to schedule your complimentary appointment.

All-On-X Implants

Dr. Kinsey’s extensive and complex dental training allows him to provide an All-On-X (AOX) procedure for patients missing several teeth. This form of implantation surgery is more complex than routine implantation since more than one implant is needed. Dr. Kinsey is well-versed in advanced restorative and cosmetic dentistry methods such as AOX and will ensure that your smile is fully rejuvenated in no time.

What is All-On-X?
Typically four or six implants are installed in the upper or lower jaw to provide patients with a full arch restoration. Digital images of your smile and jawbone are taken to ensure that your implants are placed precisely. The prosthetic or teeth that sit atop the dental implants is a fully fixed dental bridge that we call healing teeth. Although each patient is unique, on average, more than 90% of our patients can receive replacement prosthetics during the surgical appointment, drastically reducing wait time. However, this is only temporary, and you will need to return to our office so Dr. Kinsey can remove the temporary structure and position a permanent one. Just like any other restoration, they are customized to each of our patients and designed to operate and look as natural as possible.

Who Needs All-On-X?
AOX implants are certainly worth exploring for patients who have thin jawbones, are told they are not a candidate for dental implants, or do not want to wear dentures. Dr. Kinsey would be happy to discuss AOX dental implants near you.
